The Hockey Mom Diary | Proud Hockey Mom + Photographer | Wisconsin Blogger

We all have our own reasons why we love and think hockey is the best sport ever.... For me, my love for hockey started when I was a senior in high school, watching my hot boyfriend (the goalie) make save after save, showing off those skillz! I fell in love with the game because of my boyfriend. Thank you Jake, my now Husband, who has given me FOUR little boys. 3/4 of those boys of mine play, with their daddy as the coach. My Husband was coached by his dad, who was also a goalie! So it was in the cards for one of our boys to get the Lane Goalie Gene. Our twins, Landon & Lucas, have been playing youth hockey since first year Mites for Waukesha Warhawks. Landon declared goalie for his first year of squirts and is currently finishing up his second year of squirts. They are currently ranked NUMBER ONE in their region, took home the Squirtacular Championship Trophy beating CANADA and are headed to STATE in a few weeks. I couldn't be more proud. Every mom is proud of their kid no matter what they do. There is something about letting the world know you are a hockey mom and you are proud of your kid! And let me tell you, the stress and anxiety a goalie mom feels.... Ahhhh! That's  me!!!! So in honor of my obsession with my hockey players and love for the game, I wanted to share all my favorite hockey action shots of my  boys over the years, including my favorite hockey quotes.

To Landon, Lucas, Levi,

"You are my favorite players and I am your biggest fan. I will always be supporting you, off and on the ice. You are my babies and my everything. Thank you for giving me so much joy and happiness. I love being your Mommy and I will always be cheering you on."

"Hockey players have fire in their hearts and ice in their veins."
"IT'S A GREAT DAY FOR HOCKEY!"

"It's not how  big you are, it's how big you play."

"Great opportunities come to those who make the most of small ones."

"To play the game is good, to win is even better...but to love the game is best of all!"

"Once the love starts, it never stops."
" "There is no position in sport as noble as goaltending!"

"A successful team beats with one heart."
"You never lose. You either win or learn."

I will forever treasure these photographic moments of your youth hockey days. The early morning games, sitting in a freezing cold rink with no coffee, still managing to wake up and cheer despite the 7am start time. I will forever treasure the way my car smells after hockey practice. Two bags, twice the smell. I will forever treasure the time we spent in the car on our way to practice, jamming to music and talking about life. I will forever treasure being your cheerleader, no matter how old and big you get. I will love you forever. You have my heart and attention. You make me proud. I will forever enjoy this time while my children are in youth hockey and together on the same team as brothers,  best friends and teammates. Hockey Mommas, hug your babies tight and enjoy the chaos. One day, it will end. They will be old enough to drive themselves to hockey practice. Enjoy the stinky snuggles and nights filled with running around being a taxi and whipping together a quick meal. Life happens. And they grow up, loving the game because of you and your dedication. Thank you God for making hockey moms.
